What is Triplebyte and why do engineers and companies use Triplebyte?
Triplebyte is a sourcing and matching service for companies looking to hire software engineers. Engineers come to us because we help streamline their job search and certify their abilities; employers come to us because we make their sourcing easier and more effective by pre-screening candidates.
How does it work? How do you assess candidates?
We operate on a subscription model; all subscriptions grant access to all of our candidates and product offerings.
To elaborate a little more, Triplebyte sources candidates and puts them through a rigorous screening process. This process begins with an adaptive online assessment, the equivalent of exams like the GMAT but targeted to software engineering. For some candidates, this is then followed by a 2-hour technical interview. Both our online assessment and interview have been calibrated on the results of tens of thousands of candidates.
What else can you tell me about the candidates on Triplebyte?
Beyond our standard candidate pool, we also have a pool of FastTrack candidates. Both are included with a Triplebyte subscription, so you’re free to mix and match the two according to your needs.
All candidates who take our online assessment enter our larger marketplace. (This includes candidates who have previously been part of FastTrack.) These candidates can be at any stage in their job search, which means that you should approach them as you would approach candidates using any sourcing tool. They will be less competitive than candidates participating in an active job search, and those that do engage tend to be easier to close. Traditional recruiters will find this platform familiar and similar to other professional networks like LinkedIn, although Triplebyte candidates respond at about 3x the rate you will find through other sources.
Information about candidates is largely self-reported, with the exception of our technical scores. These scores describe a candidate’s performance on our online assessment and, if they’ve taken it in the past, our FastTrack interview.
What is FastTrack?
FastTrack candidates are a select group of engineers who meet certain criteria. To start with, they are actively looking for a job, are very engaged, and want to move through the process quickly. Technical recruiters and engineering managers who want a smaller pool of active and high-quality candidates will spend most of their time engaging with these candidates.
Additionally, FastTrack candidates must do very well on our quiz, have US work authorization, want to start a job soon, and are looking for work in specific metro areas. Those that meet all of these requirements are eligible to interview for our FastTrack process. This involves a standardized interview validated against thousands of previous interviews. Candidates that do well on our FastTrack interview are eligible to “go live” for a limited period of time (currently roughly one to two weeks) through FastTrack.
How does FastTrack work?
You can select the FastTrack engineers you want to learn more about, then conduct an intro call or two to learn more about the candidate and to pitch your company. In order to provide an expedited job search for these candidates, we do place some restrictions on how you interact with candidates on the FastTrack product.
After your intro call(s), you can decide whether or not you want to move forward with that candidate. If you do want to move forward, you’ll bring the candidate directly to a final onsite interview, skipping any additional pre-onsite tech screens.
FastTrack candidates are filtered aggressively, and they pass onsite interviews about 40% of the time, double the industry-average rate.
